Taiwan's APBT to Deploy Alvarion-based WiMAX Network in Taichung

Taiwanese fixed-line telecom APBT (Asia Pacific Broadband Telecom) and Israel-based WiMAX and wireless broadband solution provider Alvarion recently forged an agreement to collaborate on WiMAX deployment in Taichung, Taiwan. Under the agreement, APBT will establish a WiMAX trial network in the city, leveraging Alvarion's 4Motion mobile WiMAX solutions and equipment based on the IEEE802.16e technology. This trial network is slated for completion by late 2007, with the entire WiMAX network ready to serve 90% of Taichung's population by the end of 2008.
